BCITO

Without an emotional connection to its builder customers, the Building and Construction ITO would have quietly disappeared leaving young apprentices cast adrift.

BCITO thought it knew why builders took on apprentices – a logical way to keep labour costs down. This assumption was badly wrong, and builders were even turning them away from their sites.

The real reason builders take on apprentices is highly emotional. Builders felt a sense of duty to invest in those starting out as their masters had done to them.

Once BCITO understood this they were able to change tact and their relationships with builders improved instantly. They are still New Zealand’s leading ITO.
